Class
Action
by Brad Slaight
Director: Kim Goodrich
November 7-10, 2007
A Teens On Stage Production
Genre: Drama/Comedy |
| Class Action takes
a peek at high school life. It's an evening of
short scenes and monologues with a common thread:
all the vignettes deal with situations that take
place outside the classroom. Directed by Kim
Goodrich, this play promises to show us a glimpse
of high school life that we've perhaps forgotten
about or even tucked away into the back of our
minds. Employing teens throughout the production,
this Teens on Stage production marks the tenth
year that we've focused on our youth. Clickhere to read more. |

Doubt,
A Parable
by John Patrick Shanley
Director: Brent Laney
March 20-22 and 26-29, 2008
|
| Crested Butte Mountain Theatre
brings you the 2005 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award
winning play about faith, conviction and questions
of moral certainty, as Theatre Communications
Group would phrase it. Set in 1964, it could
easily be placed in any era. It is about Sister
Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, who takes
matters into her own hands when she suspects
the young Father Flynn of improper relations
with one of the male students. A challenging
piece of work from one of America's great contemporary
writers! |

10-Minute
Plays: In the Kitchen
Dates TBA |
| This year's
fun frolic through local playwrights is "In the
Kitchen". The premise: a 10-minute play (often
between 5-10 pages) set in a kitchen, with no
more than 4 characters. This gives you writers
a lot of room for whatever! Submissions are now
being accepted through March 22. For more information,
or if you can't quite get something together by
March 22, contact Brent Laney at 209-2158 for

by James Lapine.
Director: Shoshana Partos
Musical director: Mark
Sforzini
Repetiteur: Derek Carden
June 26-28, July 1-3, 2008
Genre: Musical
|
Inspired by Bruno
Bettelheim's 1976 bookThe Uses of
Enchantment, the Tony Award winning musicalInto
the Woods intertwines
the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy
tales and follows
them further to explore the consequences
of the characters' wishes and quests. The
main characters are taken from the stories
of Little Red Riding
Hood, Jack
and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel,
and Cinderella,
tied together by an original story involving
a Baker and his wife and their quest to begin
a family, and including references to several
other well-known tales. This is no simple
fairy tale, with plot twists, turns, character
hook-ups and a few murders and deaths. This
production will be produced in conjunction
with the Crested Butte Music Festival, using
world class musicians from around the world,
and will be held at the Center for the Arts
Crested Butte. The June 25 dress rehearsal
will be a pay-what-you-can event. It'll be
a great opportunity to see the play at a
reduced price and give the cast its first
taste of audience reaction. More... |
