Crested Butte Mountain Theatre
conducts workshops to help educate both adults and
children in different aspects of theatre arts. In
the past, CBMT has offered free and/or low-cost workshops
in acting, playwriting, directing, and lighting,
as well as offering a writer's group which featured
playwriting ad other creative writing projects. Crested
Butte Mountain Theatre is proud to offer training
to our youth that can rarely be found in the Crested
Butte area.
CBMT's annual Teens on Stage program
gives local high school students an opportunity to
act and work backstage in a full-length play with
a professional director. Teens on Stage productions
are ambitious and fully produced by teenagers under
the guidance and tutelage of the director and the
production support of the Crested Butte Mountain
Theatre. Teens on Stage often tackle classical
plays or musicals. Teens involved with this program
report greater confidence when speaking in front
of groups, more interest in classes, as well as better
communication and performance skills.
Crested Butte Mountain Theatre's ultimate goal for the students is to provide a broad insight into all aspects of theatre and to provide them with a more in depth education in the arts. |
