Summer Theatre for Youth
July 1 - 3, 8 - 12 & 15 - 19
At CBMT, we believe in the power of the arts. Our youth programs are aimed at recognizing the diversity of our audiences, exposing children to a wide range of ideas and experiences and insuring future audiences. Theatre participation teaches us leadership, decision-making, and communication skills; exposure to a variety of literature broadens our mental horizons and encourages independent, creative thinking. Theatre also teaches body awareness which develops motor skills, posture, and grace in movement. We believe Arts in Education programs to be an integral part of a community. Our summer workshop covers 2 weeks culminating in two performances.
Jamie Stambaugh takes the reigns in this season's Summer Workshops held at the Mallardi Cabaret. You've probably already seen Jamie onstage in a musical or worked with her in many of the other CBMT productions. Jamie Stambaugh has performed in community and professional theatres from the age of 12 up to present day. She earned her BFA in Musical Theatre with an Acting Emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado and her MA in Secondary English Education from the University of Oklahoma. She has directed Teens on Stage twice and worked with children of all ages in this year's Christmas production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. As a performer, Jamie has been seen in many roles including Sister Sarah Brown in “Guys and Dolls”, Marion Paroo in “The Music Man”, Cinderella in “Into the Woods”, and Rosalind in “As You Like It”. In addition to performing, Jamie has worked as a language arts and drama teacher for grades 6-8 and written the drama curriculum for a Denver middle school looking to open their first creative drama program. Her combination of professional training, stage experience, and love of teaching makes Jamie uniquely qualified to bring our summer workshop students a theatre experience full of quality instruction, loads of fun, and a shared joy in the true adventure of storytelling.
Workshops run July 1 - 3, 8 - 12 & 15 - 19 with performances at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm on the 19th.

About us |
|
The Crested Butte Mountain Theatre was born in the summer of 1972 by an energetic, talented group of people who had the vision to see a remote community provide some of its own unique culture. The first show was Dark of the Moon, played against the backdrop of a full moon rising from behind Crested Butte Mountain. Spectators sat on blankets in the grass, enthralled by the astonishing event unfolding before them. On stage were their friends - acting, singing, playing, and dancing. Today, we continue that tradition with a state of the art lighting system and a newly designed theatre. We welcome you to join us in 2012 as a participant, volunteer or guest, young and old alike, and help us celebrate 40 years of community theatre.
