YOUTHEATRE CAMP

July 11 - 22, 2022

Ages 7 - 10 Years

$325 / 2wk Session

In this unique performing and visual art workshop, students are introduced to theatre basics including: respect for one another and for the performance space, working together, preparedness for a role, and how one rehearses and performs a play. Students will leave a little braver, more creative, with a new passion, and new friends and fun memories!

Taught by long-time friend of the theatre Julia Wilson and held at the Mallardi Theatre, this theatre camp will appeal to emerging artists and performers who are ready to expand their skills!

More About our Camp Director

Julia Wilson has enjoyed directing and costuming children’s musicals at the Gunnison Arts Center (GAC), including Oliver, The Hobbit and The Wizard of Oz, and more recently wrote and directed her own musical version of The Velveteen Rabbit for both children and adults. In summer 2021, she supervised the GAC’s summer theatre camp and directed a workshop production of Don’t Count Your Chickens Until They Cry Wolf. She also has directed and costumed Into the Woods, L'il Abner and Anything Goes at the Gunnison High School.  One of her favorite things has been playing the piano for several Missoula Children’s Theater productions at the GAC. Over the last year, she has been helping the Crested Butte Mountain Theatre with props and costumes.

Camp will be held from 12:30 - 4:00pm Monday-Friday July 11-22

To celebrate the conclusion of camp, a free theatrical performance will be held, brought to life by the new skills students learned from camp!

Family and friends are invited to join us on July 22nd at 5:00PM for the performance.
