Welcome to Crested Butte Mountain Theatre!

Crested Butte Mountain Theatre is in its 48th consecutive year, making it the longest running community theatre in Colorado. Our mission is to entertain, educate, and enrich the Crested Butte community and greater Gunnison Valley by providing a well-balanced theatrical season of high artistic quality.

2020 has been a challenging and complicated year for live theater. We usually abide by the mantra, "The Show Must Go On", and for part of the year, it did! After a successful outdoor summer camp performance and "Tales of Ghost Valley" - 7 solo shows around town with a limited, rotating audience - we were optimistic about producing a covid-friendly production of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas".

However, when Covid-19 struck our cast, we ultimately made the very difficult, but prudent, decision to postpone this winter production until the right time. We had hoped to bring holiday cheer to our community through the theatrical arts, but due to the rising numbers of cases in the Gunnison Valley, we decided we must prioritize the safety and well being of our cast, crew, and community.

We are fortunate to have built relationships with incredible designers, directors, stage managers, volunteers, and cast members in the process. We look forward to collaborating again when the time is right.

In the meantime, we hope that you'll consider a donation to The Crested Butte Mountain Theatre. We don't have to explain that this has been an incredibly tough year for the performing arts, and CBMT is no exception. Your donation of any amount goes a long way.
